I booked 4 nights at The Oaks at Point South for two reasons, it's pre-paid with my Thousand Trails membership and it is centrally located to explore Savannah, Charleston, and Hilton Head. This RV campground is really tight with large trees everywhere but there were a number of big rigs here so it is doable. There is a pool, bathhouses, a large dog park, a small clubhouse, and a laundry facility that closes promptly at 7 PM. The 30 amp circuit did not work at my site but I didn't have to move thanks to my 50 amp dog bone. There is a large lake on the back side with a walking trail that circles approximately 3/4 of a mile around the lake; perfect for walking dogs. There are a few Fast Food joints and Convenience Stores nearby but I found myself taking the 22 mile drive to Beaufort to restock. I did take a drive through the town of Yemassee but there really i'snt much there. The Oaks turned out to be a beautiful piece of property and the location met my needs really well.

I booked 4 nights at Carolina Landing as part of my Thousand Trails membership to start my east coast trip. When I encounter RV parks like Carolina Landing, I'm torn. The staff here was very nice, the RVers throughout the park were nice, the pictures online were nice. My in person experience here was something much different. The park is very tight with many undulation sites that take quite a bit of work to level an RV. Mine was no too bad but some were really unlevel. The biggest problem is the lack of updating and maintenance. This place is worn out. I just don't know of any other way to describe it. One whole clubhouse building was closed off with crime scene tape at the main entrance and tipped over patio furniture blocking the side entrance. They list a great many amenities most of which seem too tired to use or completely delapitated. Sorry to be negative but I've seen nice parks and this place needs a complete makeover just to be acceptable.

I booked 12 nights at a Trails Collection Campground which is an extension of my Thousand Trails membership. Whispering Pines RV Park is near the Bogue Sound on Hwy 24 8.6 miles west of Morehead City NC and 8.6 miles east of Cape Carteret NC. The RV park is gated and you will receive a gate card in the very informative welcome packet. Although there are no paved sites I was able to level with my Anderson Blocks with ease. The sign says not to drive on the medium but everyone does as that's the only access to most sites on the main drag. There are tall pines here on a beautiful piece of property but not so many that big rigs can't navigate. The majority of the RV Park is long term. There are plenty of dog waste stations throughout the park and the huge dog park is one of the best I've seen. The pool area is nice and very well kept, in fact the entire park is well groomed and maintained. There is also a playground, a basketball court, and a laundry facility that actually uses quarters rather than cards or tokens. There are a few stores in the immediate area and the closest Walmart is 7 miles away towards Morehead City. All in all, Whispering Pines is a great place to stay and centrally located to a great many things we all like to do. I will return to Whispering Pines.

I needed to fill one night along I85 before my 3 night stay at Forest Lake so I went to Harvest Host. Just east of Charlotte NC in Concord is Gibson Mill. There are 2 Harvest Host spots available in a level concrete parking lot. Tom the host was very nice and talked me through exactly where to park. Gibson Mill is a destination in and of itself and very popular with the community. Trust me, most of them were there on this Friday night. The website describes it as: "Concord's community-driven gathering spot with a locally sourced food hall - Gibson Mill Market, craft breweries, antique mall, retail, office, warehouse space and more". I had an upscale burger and a craft beer at Cabarrus Brewing Company; both were excellent. The AutoBarn Classic Cars & Collector Car Storage is a must see. My only regret is that I couldn't spend a couple of days here and I will definitely stop overnight here again.

I Booked 3 nights because 4 nights was not available which is how I discovered Gibson Mill. Thousand Trails Forest Lake has an Advance NC address but is actually closer to Lexington NC which is much larger and has a revitalized downtown district which is very nice. Forest Lake was a pleasant surprise after Carolina Landing with a near endless number of amenities that were actually well maintained and usable. A large number of the individual sites are wooded including mine so I never attempted to pull out my Starlink. My Verizon hotspot had 68 Mbps Down and 43 Mbps Upload. Some of the sites were small enough that the tow vehicles had to be parked elsewhere close by. There are golf carts everywhere and a couple of lengthy walking trails that my Goldendoodle loved. The fellow RVers were all very nice as were the staff although the Ranger Lady who checked me in was all business. I could certainly see myself returning to Forest Lake for a longer stay next time.

I decided to break my trip to the Lowcountry of South Carolina into two drive days and selected Honeysuckle Farms RV Park in Dublin GA as my resting point for 2 nights. The RV park is $20 per night with your Passport America membership, 110 miles NW of Savannah, and has full hookup sites on a nice piece of land with bathhouses. I did not expect Dublin to be a destination but it turned out to be a surprisingly interesting place. With a population of about 16,000 it still seems to have all the usual stores and restaurants, basically at least one of everything including the Carl Vinson Veterans' Administration Medical Center. The quaint downtown area is surrounded with antebellum homes which many were obviously zoned commercial years ago because they contained law offices and other businesses. They are all meticulously restored and the grounds are superb. The center of the downtown district is a well preserved relic of the Old South. This may not be a destination but it is a great stopover for RVers with complete restock options.

I left central Alabama with my trusted sidekick Barron, a 14 month-old Golden Doodle, headed for the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a 2 night stopover stay to explore the towns of Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian. I stayed at the Bay St Louis RV Park and Campground for $22.50 per night with my 50% Passport America Discount. I'm sure this park was a showplace years ago but there were too many permanent residents living in trailers in various levels of disrepair. There was also an issue with the 30 amp service that led me to unplug and use my inverter for day 2. The park is close to old town Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian, both of which were a real treat to explore. Both of these enchanting towns are located on the Gulf of Mexico with vibrant old towns, great restaurants, mom and pop gift stores, and miles of sandy beaches. One of the most impressive aspects of this area are the beautiful antebellum estates overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Simply Stunning!
Good Overnight stay with a great dog park! I broke an 1,130 mile trip from Birmingham to Sioux Falls into 3-days travel with my 2nd overnight stop being The Love's RV Hookup in St. Joseph MO. Easy in & out just off the interstate with a well stocked store. Highly Recommended!
Pulled in for an overnight stay on a cross country drive. Easy in east out close to I-20. Didn't use any amenities. The area seemed a little sketchy to set-up the Starlink and the lady at check-in said she wouldn't leave it out overnight. $30 for the overnight stay.
