I found the easiest way to see the Petrified Forest National Park is the 28 mile Petrified Forest Rd from the Painted Desert Visitors Center just off I40 to the Rainbow Forest Museum and Visitor Center near Hwy 180. The Petrified Forest is beautiful to all and an extra treat for those interested in geology and paleontology. The 28 mile route is packed with pull outs and parking lots making viewing and photos easy. There are 8 hiking trails in the park and Pets are allowed on the developed trails. Viewpoints include the Painted Desert Inn, Painted Desert Overlook, The Route 66 Alignment, Puerco Pueblo, Newspaper Rock, Blue Mesa, Agate Bridge, Jasper Forest, Crystal Forest, and Long Logs & Agate House. You can learn more about the geological and paleontology of the park and see some of the finest specimens of petrified wood at the Rainbow Forest Museum. With all of the pullouts and viewpoints your should allow yourself at least 3 hours.

Show Low is located in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona and offers a wide range of activities and a good quality of life.
At over 6300 feet, Show Low is a wonderful summer get-away for folks from the Phoenix valley just looking to escape the triple digit
temperatures. Surrounded by mountain forest and lakes there's something for everyone here from the Natural Beauty, the Outdoor
Activities, Hiking, Biking, Golf and the almost southern like small-town hospitality. Pinetop-Lakeside is adjacent to Show Low so the
area is bigger than most realize. Show Low is aptly named after a legendary poker
game where two early settlers decided to let the turn of a card determine the town's name. One settler said, If you can show low,
you win.
The other settler turned up the two of clubs and replied, show low it is.
Today, Hwy 60 through town is predictably
named Deuce of Clubs Avenue. The famous card game is memorialized with a statue on Deuce of Clubs Av. Most RV resorts are closed in
Show Low for the winter. Besides, winter is when you visit the Arizona valleys. I will be back in Show Low soon!

For most people Winslow is know for only one thing; The Eagle's famous song Take It Easy
. Taking a day trip from Show Low through
the Petrified Forrest National Park I couldn't resist the detour to Winslow to see the Iconic Standing on the Corner Park
. The Corner
has a two-story mural, a couple of statues, and yes, a Flat-bed Ford. Route 66 travels through downtown Winslow and there is
a gift show across the street with all things Eagles and Route 66. There is a small museum called Old Trails Museum and a few restaurants
in town but that's about it for Winslow. It's only a 25 mile drive to Meteor Crater Natural Landmark which is one of the best-preserved
impact craters on Earth. Meteor Crater is not part of the National Parks system.
